Reid’s ton spurs Tutorial Academy to victory

Flynn Reid registered an unbeaten century to lead Tutorial Academy to a dominant win over School of the Nations New Amsterdam (NA) in the Republic Bank Right-Start Secondary School under 15 40 overs cricket competition which occurred recently in regions 5 and 6.

Batting first, Tutorial Academy got to 207 all out in 32.4 overs with Reid batting through the innings before being left standing on 112(5x4s, 5x6s), which also marked the competition’s first century.

Reid got support at the top of the order from Jamal Henry who contributed 23 in their 67-run first wicket partnership.

In reply School of the Nations NA crumbled to 34 all out in nine overs after bowing out to the pace of Shaun Hosannah who nabbed 6 – 14 from five overs.
All-rounder Reid was also a destructive element with the ball and managed to grab 4 – 11 from three overs.

Meanwhile, Guyana Community Developers suffered a more painful defeat than School of the Nations NA in their encounter with Vryman’s Erven Secondary.

Vryman’s Erven was bowled out after getting to a comfortable 169 in 19 overs and in turn had an early day after puzzling their opposition and stopping their scoring in four overs to catapult them off the field for a measly 13 runs. Opening bowlers Quesi Kendall (5-5) and Carl Barran (4-5) from just two overs each did the damage with the ball for Vryman’s Erven Secondary.

Mahaicony Secondary cleared the field against Bush Lot Secondary School, winning by 47 runs.

Bush Lot’s Curt Griffith scored his first half century of the gentleman’s game before returning to work magic with the ball; cleaning up six wickets for 17 runs in six overs to restrict Mahaicony Secondary to 122 in 25 overs.

Mahaicony’s Deswyn Butts and Glenroy Archibald also did wonders with the ball and proved to be more effective than Griffith, as they gathered seven wickets between them for 15 runs to spearhead Bush Lot’s demise.

Butts and Archibald finished with 4 – 3 and 3 – 12 from four and five overs respectively, limiting Bush Lot to 78 all out in 22 overs.
