Complaint about Anna Regina agri office being probed

Dear Editor,
The Ministry of Agriculture refers to a letter published in your Sunday, June 15, 2008 edition under the caption `Waiting for help from agri office in Anna Regina’ and signed by Mr Sohan Seemangal.  Mr Seemangal had directed this letter to the Office of the Minister of Agriculture prior to its publication in your newspaper. The Minister had instructed that an investigation be launched into the allegation and Mr Seemangal was duly informed by way of letter dated June 12, 2008 signed personally by the Minister.

The Minister wishes to state from the outset that it will not condone cases where its officers fail to respond in a timely manner to farmers’ requests for help.
If the investigations reveal unprofessional conduct or deliberate neglect of duties the officer(s) involved will be disciplined.

Notwithstanding the outcome of the investigations, the Ministry will take immediate steps to have Mr Seemangal’s Farm visited within this current week.
Yours faithfully,
Brian Greenidge
Deputy Permanent
Secretary
