Edward SkeeteEdward Skeete was not required to plead to the indictable charge of robbing George Ramsarran of a gold band, a wristwatch, and $230,000.

On Tuesday, July 1, two men had entered the Royal Refrigeration building at John Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, and held the owner Ramsarran at gunpoint. The men tied him up with duct tape and took away the stated items. Police who were on patrol responded quickly to the report of the robbery and tracked down the duo after they were told the men were heading east along Brickdam on a bicycle.

According to the police, on seeing the law enforcers approaching, one of the two men pulled out a firearm and discharged a round at the police who returned fire hitting him. The men were apparently contemplating their next move when the police mobile patrol got word of the robbery and moved in quickly. Since they were on a bicycle; the two did not get far. The police had caught up with them at the corner of Brickdam and Chalmers Place, Stabroek.
