Acting Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle yesterday remanded a 25-year-old man, who allegedly murdered a resident of Kara Kara, Linden, when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Justin FelixJustin Felix, also known as Justin Percival, of 304 Oronoque Drive, Retrieve, Linden was not required to plead to the indictable charge of murder when it was read to him.
It is alleged that on July 13 at Kara Kara, McKenzie, Linden the accused murdered Paul Austin.

When asked if he wanted to say anything to the court Austin only denied that he was also known as Justin Percival.

He was refused bail and the matter was transferred to the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court for August 12.

According to a July 14 press release, the police said they were investigating the murder of Austin, 26, which occurred at about 9 pm on July 13 near the Kara Kara Bridge.

Paul Austin, the release had said, was walking along the bridge in the company of another man when two men rode up on bicycles.  One of the men became engaged in an argument with Austin. During the argument the man reportedly pulled out a firearm and discharged rounds which struck Austin, after which he and his accomplice escaped.

It was further stated in the release that Austin was taken to the McKenzie Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Subsequent investigations by the police led to the recovery of an unlicensed .38 revolver with two live rounds and two spent shells in an open field at Kara Kara.
