Perriera once attended the school and recalled speaking with the principal of the school and promising that he would make a donation.

The equipment which included cricket balls, batting and wicket-keeping pads, groin guards and bats was received on behalf of the school by President of the Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB) Alvin Johnson.

“With the donation of the equipment I hope it stimulates the youths to be involved in cricket and stay away from drugs,” Perriera said.

And he called  on the Vice President of the Guyana Cricket Board Malcolm Peters who was present at the ceremony to implement a coaching plan in the schools so that the gears can be used to their full potential.

Johnson who recently returned from Barbados as the manager of the Guyana under-19 team after a not-so-spectacular TCL Under-19 tournament thanked Perriera for the contribution. He also remarked  that he was grateful and happy to see a fellow Essequibian giving back to his society.

“’Reds’ has been supporting numerous sports successfully in Guyana and this is a tangible way of reinforcing this,” Johnson stated.
