The international motor racing meet set for Sunday, August 31 at Bushy Park in Barbados will see an invasion of Guyanese drivers and riders led by Group Four driving aces Andrew King and Kevin Jeffrey, Group Three stars Kamal Seebaran and Canadian Shawn King and Group 2B champion Gavin Gouveia.

Yesterday Gouveia received a substantial boost for this meet, when he was the recipient of additional sponsorship from Clear Waters Company to the tune of $140,000 cash.

Proprietor of the  company Lloyd Singh noted Gouveia’s performance at the last meet held at the South Dakota Circuit on July 27  where he was unbeaten and was crowned Group 2B champion.
“This sponsorship was a result of that performance and if he can keep up the winning ways more sponsorship will be on the table from not only Clear Waters, but other businesses as well.”

The sponsorship by Clear Waters also serves to introduce the product to Barbados as Singh said that the market there for water is excellent but presently, he is only seeking to supply the local market until he can increase production.

Gouveia who was happy to have Clear Waters on board also thanked Banks Beer, Ice Palace-Igloo products, Lexus Money Lending, and Royal Cambio for their continued sponsorship.

He expressed confidence that he will do Guyana proud, noting his recent form in the local meeting and the fact that his car is now in A-one shape permits him to express such confidence.

Meanwhile reminiscing on the last international meet that he took part in’ Gouveia said that his car was not in good shape and he was forced to start from the back and in trying to get to the front he harassed the car causing a piston to break.

“This time though I intend to do better – this time I know what to do.”
Gouveia’s car was shipped out to Barbados over a week ago and he said that it should arrive by next Monday. He is leaving for Barbados on Wednesday with his mechanic.
