Clothes vendor charged with wounding children’s mother

A clothes vendor who allegedly assaulted and wounded the mother of his children was placed on $25,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle on Tuesday at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Thirty-two-year-old Jeremy Stuffely of 30-48 North Ruimveldt pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawfully and maliciously assaulting and wounding Michelle Bollers, causing her actual bodily harm.

The prosecution said Bollers and Stuffely have been separated for some time but the accused did not want to accept the fact that she had started another relationship.

On August 18, at Stuffley’s North Ruimveldt home, Bollers received a cell phone call from her present companion. However, Stuffley did not want her to answer it and when she ignored his wishes and answered the phone an argument started  that escalated into a fight.

The accused allegedly cut off pieces of her dreadlocks and slashed her forehead with a knife.

However, Stuffely’s attorney said that his client was at home on the day in question when Bollers went over to discuss issues concerning their children. Upon arriving she answered a phone call and the argument started. He said they both assaulted each other and while fighting she hit her head on the bedpost and got a gash on her forehead but it was not caused by a knife.

He said further that if the police were to check they would see the blood on the bedpost, which would prove that the complainant was not assaulted with a knife.

The prosecution did not object to bail. Magistrate Ogle put Stuffely on $25,000 bail and ordered that the matter be transferred to Court Two for October 3.
