Untouchables remain untouchable

Untouchables were untouch-ed by Wild Fire’s flames and they also stopped Unstop-pable in the Guyana Softball League (GSL) organized  Memorex Enterprise 15-overs countrywide softball tournament at the Crabwood Creek ground last Sunday.

Wild Fire XI batted first and scored 71 in 12.4 overs as Troy Kippins and Ganesh Balgobin picked up 3-11 and 3-21 respectively for Untouchables. Balram Samarooo with an unbeaten 21 led Untouchables to their target and a victory.

Untouchables XI then halted Unstoppable XI by a massive 98-run deficit in their second match. They batted first and posted 168-7 in 15 overs with Samaroo blasting a concrete 31 as he received support from Roy Jafferally with 28.

Unstoppable began their reply and were stopped in eight overs, making 70 runs in the process. Papo Persaud made 27 for Unstoppable while Kippins and Balgobin were fantastic again with 4-19 and 2-17 respectively.

Over at the Eve Leary ground, Destroyers XI gained a massive 176 run victory over Dare Devils XI.

Led by a solitary half century by Christopher Mohammed who made 69 and received support from Wayne Narine with 36, Destroyers XI posted a mammoth 235–5 in 15 overs even as Ryan Persaud took 3– 43.

The Dare Devils were rooted out for 59 in 8.2 overs in their reply with Sundaar Seenauth being the only batsman to reach double figures for Dare Devils while Shammeer Latiff grabbed 3–16 for Destroyers.

Dare Devils XI were not so fortunate to claim two consecutive victories as they crumbled to a 46-run defeat at the hands of Silver Belt XI who accumulated a total of 143, losing six wickets in the process in 15 overs batting first.

Dhanraj Ramsamooj (47) and Balram Singh (27) were the main contributors in that innings  while  Anil Singh was the best bowler for Destroyers with 2–34. Singh made a levelheaded all-round contribution for Destroyers when he top scored for his team in their reply of 97 all out in 14.1 overs. Imran Khan bagged 2-14 for Silver Belt.

Silver Belt XI failed to win two consecutive victories as Tradesmen XI defeated them in their second match by 41 runs.

Tradesmen batted and scored 126-6 from 15 overs with Nigel Ramdial contributing 42 while Dhanraj Ramsamooj picked up 2-14 while in reply Silver Belt could only muster 85 before being bowled out in 13.2 overs. Balram Singh made a fighting 30 as Surujpaul Deosarran tore through the Silver Belt batting lineup with 5-8.

Over at the Den Amstel ground in the West Coast Zone of the tourney Ruimzeight made light work of Windsor Fort XI after they rooted them out for a measly 66 in 13 overs.

Anand Bharat bagged 3-14 for Ruimzeight then they passed the set target of 67 and lost two wickets in the 6.3 overs they batted. Zaheer Abbas raced up to 23 and Mahendra Chaitram supported with 18 for Rumzeight.

Ravendra Ramnarine made a thunderous half century (55) that included six sixes for Leonora Youths in their final total of 167-6 in 15 overs. Rajin Raham pitched in with a helpful 29 while Vikash Dhaniram claimed 2-10 for Cornelia Ida.

Cornelia Ida were bowled out for 111 in 14.2 overs as Verindra Kowlessar spearheaded the bowling attack with 3-15 and was supported by Shairaj Samad with 3-21.
