Two neighbours who assaulted each other had their case dismissed on Wednesday because they refused to offer evidence against each other when they appeared before Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Thirty-three-year-old Sherman Monroe of 28 Holmes Street, South Cummingsburg and Seon Lewis, 26, of the same address pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawfully assaulting each other.
Lewis stated that on August 29 at their Cummingsburg home he was outside in the yard praying when Monroe passed and jammed him. Shortly after an argument ensued and it was because of his mother’s displeasure about the situation, that she started raving and this alerted a police officer who was nearby. The two were subsequently arrested and charged.
Monroe admitted to jamming Lewis but he stated that it happened accidentally.
They both stated that they were never desirous of the matter reaching the court and they did not wish to bring any evidence against each other. The case was then dismissed.
