Dear Editor,
I am a resident of Timehri and I would like to voice my concern about the performance of the police in this community. I have a daughter working at the airport and she complains daily about the wrongs committed by those criminal elements that live in the squatting area at Timehri. The police turn a blind eye to the situation since some of them are friends of these characters.
Mr Commissioner, if you speak to the people in the area they will tell you that some of your ranks and the rogues are in league. Every day passengers are robbed by persons loitering in the area and all this takes place in the sight of the police. The police can be found drinking and liming with the same thugs in the evening; how then can move to arrest these persons? The police are aware of all those that are involved in criminal activities at Timehri, yet they do not do anything about this situation.
Every day there are many thieves loitering around the airport and all the police do is harass those that they can take advantage of while criminal-minded persons roam freely.
