Three on the trot

A hostile spell of bowling by Banks DIH medium pace bowler Jermaine Martins, who took a hat-trick  sent Correia Group of Companies All Stars team crashing to defeat as the Beverage giants recorded their third victory in as many matches in their 20-overs-a-side tapeball cricket series Friday evening at Thirst Park.

Martins dislodged Correia’s middle order as the team was bowled out for 85 chasing 181 for 7 made by Banks DIH who batted first.

The home side sent into bat was restricted in the first 10 overs by consistent bowling from Correia’s strike bowlers Shawn Williams (3 for 30) and Travis Reid (2 for 39) but they manage to push the scoring in the last five overs to reach their eventual total.

Leading the batting for Banks DIH was Seon Simpson with an aggressive 46. He received valuable support from Satesh Harrinandan with 36 while Dillon Cox and Marvin Belle scored 27 runs each.

Correia were in early trouble against Banks pace attack. Only Reid, with a steady innings of  24 and Warren Oudkerk with 17 offered any resistance.

Martins kept them on the ropes when he disposed of the three batsmen including Captain Thakurdial Rampersaud in successive deliveries.

Also in top bowling form for the home team were Yugesh Kissoon and Devon October who each  ended with figures of 3 for 20.

Martins was named man of the match for his effort while Banks captain Otis George received trophies donated by Correia Group of Companies and presented by Andre Farinha who served as manager of the Correira team.
