St. John’s and Winfer Gardens are leaders after first day

At the completion of the first day of events in the North Georgetown Branch Champion of Champions athletics two day meeting which is being held at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, St. John’s College and Winfer Gardens are the points leaders in their respective categories.

Competing under the theme “Running with Glory”, St. John’s College surely ran with glory in the Secondary schools category, after compiling 135 points at the end of the day, holding a comfortable 67 points lead over the second placed Saint Stanislaus College with Global Technology Institute a further three points behind in third position.

In the Primary schools category, Winfer Gardens almost matched St. John’s College, but even though they failed to do so, they still managed to accumulate 102 points  to hold the pole position over St. Andrews Primary who are 31 points behind and St. Margaret’s a further 10 points adrift of St. Andrews.

Today is the final day of the meet and even though a keen tussle for supremacy can be anticipated in the Primary School category, the same cannot be said the Secondary, as only an act of fate can prevent St. John’s College from romping to victory over their opponents.
