‘Honest’ man remanded over grievous bodily harm, larceny

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson remanded a man to prison on Thursday shortly after he pleaded not guilty to the charges of inflicting grievous bodily harm on a young boy and larceny from the person.

It is alleged that Clint Walker, 20, of 184 La Penitence unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm to Iked Lyte on October 25. It is also alleged that on the same day he stole from Nkecki Lyte a gold chain valued $5,000.

However Walker stated that, “I deh riding me bike and a taxi man hit me down and this lil boy (Iked) start beating me.” He also said that he was an honest man and did not want any trouble.

Nkecki who was present in court said  that she was on her way home from Bourda Market when Walker approached her on his bicycle and attempted to snatch her chain.

She said that the chain dropped to the ground and as Walker was attempting to ride away some public spirited persons ran behind him and apprehended him. She said that a taxi soon stopped and as the persons were trying to get Walker into the car he put up a fight and dealt Iked a punch to his left arm fracturing it.

Walker was eventually taken to the Brickdam Police Station and handed over to the police.

The magistrate subsequently ordered that Walker be remanded to prison and transferred the case to Court Three for November 6.

“Wicked people can’t prosper,” shouted Walker as he was being escorted out the court by a policeman.
