Plumber caused woman actual bodily harm – court hears

A 26-year-old plumber was yesterday placed on $30,000 bail when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer the charge of unlawful assault.

It is alleged that on April 14 at Georgetown, Paul Lohing of Section C Sophia unlawfully assaulted Elizabeth Danram so as to cause her actual bodily harm.

According to Lohing’s attorney, the matter was an unfortunate one which resulted in the virtual complainant (VC) being injured. Describing the injury as petty, the lawyer explained to the court that his client had owed the VC’s husband some money and when approached about it an argument erupted and later a scuffle ensued. It was at this point the VC intervened and was injured.

Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram had no objection to bail.

Lohing was then placed on $30,000 bail and his matter was transferred to the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court for June 4.
