Rampaul bags four in T&T Premier League

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Fast bowler Ravi Rampaul, gearing up for the One-Day International (ODI) series against England later this month, grabbed four wickets on Sunday for PowerGen in their drawn Trinidad and Tobago Premier League sixth-round match.

In the limited time that rainy conditions allowed, Rampaul captured 4-47 to help PowerGen restrict Moosai Sports to 173 all out at Honeymoon Park.

Moosai were replying to PowerGen’s 369 for eight declared of which national player Jason Mohammed had smashed 144. Following on, Moosai reached 83 without loss when rain aborted play for the day.

Rampaul, who is in the West Indies ODI squad to face England on May 21, 24 and 26 in England, was given good support by spinners Dave Mohammed (2-22) and Rishi Bachan (2-24).

In other games, veteran spinner Mukesh Persad claimed eight for 64 for Clarke Road as Wanderers compiled 326 and Clarke Road reached 228 for seven in reply.

Rain also forced a no-result between Comets and Preysal, who were 266 for six in reply to 315.
Guyanese Azeemul Haniff (39), Shazam Babwah (72), Keshava Ramphal (52 not out), and Vinai Sookhai (48) were Preysal’s top scorers against Imran Khan (2-79) and Rayad Emrit (2-68).

National all-rounder Richard Kelly grabbed five for 35 and linked up with Kyron Lynch (3-18) to reduce Central Sports to 63 all out in reply to Merry Boys’ 162 and visiting Queen’s Park CC got first innings honours over Munroe Road when they reached 200 for seven in reply to Munroe’s 162.

Justin Guillen (78) and Daron Cruickshank (34) were the leading scorers for Queen’s Park CC.
