Woweta now solar powered

GEA Head Mahender Sharma revealed on Friday afternoon that photovoltaic systems were installed in 42 homes in the small community of Woweta and also in a joinery project, a garden project, a solar freezer and a cassava processing unit.

In the initial phases of the project the country’s rural sector was assessed then the communities were selected and their demands assessed.  The project is currently being monitored and evaluated.

The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the University of Calgary and the Haskayne School of Business funded the projects which started back in June 2007.
