– GDF and Buxton battle to a draw

And what better feeling to have than to treat your fans to a tournament victory on your home ground which Camp-town did in conquering Conquerors 2 – 1 while GDF and Buxton United drew 1 – 1 in the curtain raiser of the evening.

GDF were awarded the third place trophy and $20,000 after BK International Western Tigers pulled out of the tournament  leaving Buxton United to play the army team in a friendly as a football treat to the spectators.

The soggy field which Buxton and GDF battled on allowed first blood to be drawn by Buxton in the 13th minute from a Neville Gulliver strike that went past  the custodian.

That lead was only defended for a few minutes as the equalizer was found by Eusi Phillips for GDF in the 30th minute which concluded the half with both teams at one.

Neither team was able to score in the second half due to the outfield being muddy and unfit for stable play while players became enervated from constantly moving around the slippery field.

In the Camptown/ Conquerors encounter the game got moving earlier on when Rashawn Sandiford scored in the 12th minute for Camptown then Conquerors answered the very next minute when Delon Williams thumped one past the goalie.

They soon regained the lead from a Lance Rawlston’s 30th minute success that ended the first 45 minutes with Camptown ahead by one.

As the field became worse for play the final 45 minutes became harder to score leaving Camptown in the lead for the remainder of the match-up.
