Juvenile charged over house break-in

A 16-year-old boy who was jointly charged with another person over a house break-in was on Wednesday ordered to remain in police custody when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is  alleged that on June 17 at Georgetown, the juvenile, along with another person who is unknown and yet to be arrested, broke and entered the dwelling house of Victor John and stole one microscope valued $115,000, property of the said Victor John.

The young man was not required to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to him by the Acting Chief Magistrate.

The virtual complainant (VC) was not present in court.

The unrepresented defendant was ordered by the magistrate to have an adult present with him on his next appearance on June 30.
