T&T crush Windwards to take second win

KINGSTON, Jamaica,  CMC – Trinidad & Tobago registered their second win of the TCL Group West Indies three-day Cup with an emphatic eight-wicket win over the Windward Islands yesterday.

Playing on the final day at Jamaica Broilers Ground, T&T easily overhauled the 30 runs needed for victory, after disposing of the Windwards for 209 all out in their second innings.

Resuming on their overnight 104 for four in their second innings, the Windwards suffered early blows which severely dented their hopes.

Captain Dalton Polius added three to his overnight score of 38 before he was bowled by pacer Teshawn Castro for 41.

His partner Rudolph Paul, unbeaten on five at the start of the day, scored 53 before he became leg-spinner Yannic Cariah’s third victim.

Audy Alexander, batting at number seven, made 37 but the remainder of the Windwards batting crumbled.
Kjorn Ottley finished with three for 12 and Cariah, three for 47, to lead T&T’s attack.

With the victory, T&T moved to the top of the six-team standings with 24 points from two matches, after destroying Jamaica by an innings and 64 runs in their opening encounter last week.
