Barbados takes lead in Regional Blind Cricket tourney

Barbados took the lead in the fourth annual Regional Blind Cricket tournament with a 10 wicket win over Jamaica yesterday at the Providence National Stadium.
In a game reduced to 11 overs-a-side from the original 15, Jamaica, batting first, scored 100-3.

Denol Shim scored 29, Greg Stuart was run out for 24 and Toussaint Gardner scored 20 before retiring hurt.

Barbados, in reply, raced to 102-0 with Ricardo Manning scoring an unbeaten 44 while Halden Forde supported with 35.

In the other scheduled game Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago’s encounter was washed out with Guyana, batting first 65-3 after 12 overs.

Kevin `Speedy’ Douglas scored 35 before he was leg before wicket to Mike Durham while Robert Weeks was bowled by Ramrattan and Oliver Kerr run out for two.

A decision was then taken by the umpires to call of play following a downpour which started at 10.30am.

Barbados with eight points will take on Trinidad and Tobago today at the same venue weather permitting.

In the second scheduled game Jamaica will play the hosts Guyana.
