Finewood through to GS&WCA Tapeball semis

Finewood Marketing Inc.  is the first team through to the semi-finals while the other quarter-final matches will be played off this weekend in the Guyana Softball and Windball  Cricket Association (GS&WCA) sponsored 15-15 tapeball tournament.

Finewood advanced following a four-wicket win over Bank of Guyana (BOG) in their quarter-final encounter played last weekend at the GS&WCA ground on Carifesta Avenue.

Batting first BOG posted 115 in their allotted 15 overs with A. Griffith top scoring with 26 while Imran Khan and C. Dickson made 21 runs each. Wayne La Rose was the pick of Finewood bowlers with 2 for 13.

Lee Davis piloted Finewood to victory with a solid 70 which included nine sixes and one four.

Dickson return to take two wickets for BOG.

Mocha brushed aside Pharmagen by five wickets after Pharmagen made 105 for 8 and Mocha replied with 106 for 5.

B. Pollard top scored for Pharmagen with 26 while Lawrence Henry captured 3 for 20 for Mocha.

When Mocha batted they secured victory off the last ball with Brian Jones  hitting 21 not out and W. Sobers 20. Dexter Bowen was the pick of the Pharmagen bowlers with 3 for 3.

Ghetto Stars made light work of Sterling Products by six wickets.

Batting first, Sterling were bowled out for 90 with Jagdeo Singh 30 and Dhaniram Ramkisson leading with batting with 30 and 27 respectively.
Mark London secured 2 for 17 for Ghetto Stars who replied with 92 for 4 with Delon Cox top scoring with 43. Dwayne Yan took 2 for 6 for the losers.

Hillfoot Strikers  secured two victories against Park Rangers and Queenstown.

In their encounter against Park Rangers, the Rangers made 106 off their 15 overs with Ramnauth Cox hitting 41 and Otis Pearson 31.

Naresh Bhagwandin captured two wickets for Hillfoot who replied with 108 for 8 with Avinash Singh hitting an unbeaten 23 and Vickey Mohabir 22. Romel George took 3 for 14 for Rangers.

In the second game, Hillfoot made 114 all out and then bowled out Queenstown for 77 to win by 37 runs.

Batting for Hillfoot  Lanti Hinds 22 and T. Tucker 20 were in top form while Harry Hareed grabbed 3 for 19 for the losers.

Ghetto Stars will battle with GWI in Group B, Falcon will tackle Hillfoot Strikers  in Group ‘A’, Dyna’s Bravado will oppose Mocha in Group ‘C’ and Neal and Massy will tackle the winner of the GWI/Ghetto Stars match at the GS&WCA ground in this weekend’s showdown.
