In the feature match Bourda Market demolished Ann’s Grove 5 – 2 while Stewartville/Leonora (S/L) Market outdid East Ruimveldt 1 – 0 in the curtain raiser.
Ann’s Grove drew first blood as early as the seventh minute from a Charles Gevon strike that was placed well past the Bourda custodian.

However, Bourda, with the best looking team on paper, regrouped and equalized in the 26th minute through an Andrew Gibson goal as the first half ended 1-1.
Primo then made his presence felt as he recorded a superb goal in the 46th minute and Bourda went further ahead when Stellon Bourne scored in the 56th minute.
Ann’s Grove’s Jason Clarke scored in the 60th minute to make it a one goal game again but the former youth national and Fruta Conquer-ors forward, Primo, had other ideas and slipped in two more goals (64th and 66th) to take the game away from Ann’s Grove.

Game one saw S/L Market’s lone goal scored by Owen Mc Garrell in the 22nd minute. The match up was very competitive with both teams taking the attack to each other.
The competition continues on August 11 with the final set of first round matches which will pit Vendors Arcade against Wismar Market at 6pm while Stabroek Market will collide with New Amsterdam Market at 8pm at the GFC Ground.
