D’Andrade finished first from a field of over 20 starters completing the distance in a time of 14:46s surpassing his previous best time of 14:47s ran in 2007.

Curtis Cox finished second (15:41s) and fellow country man Sital, third in his personal best time of 15:51s.

Speaking with Stabroek Sport, D’Andrade said that  he felt good coming into the race because he had an ample amount of rest which gave him the opportunity to come out really hard and pace himself terrifically down the flat course which he felt was relatively easy.

He added that this was another one of his preparation races for the upcoming annual Venture Credit Union 5K, where he ran his previous PB, which is billed for on September 13.
