RHTYSC receives sponsorship from overseas

The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) has attracted sponsorship from some  overseas-based Guyanese and has also established long term relationship with some of them.

Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster recently returned from a three week vacation to New York where he took the opportunity to meet with friends and supporters of the club.
Reverend Robin Dinnanauth of the Tabernacle Emmanuel Full Gospel Assembly’s Church committed US $1,000 towards RHTYSC’s Bakewell Second Division team weekly feeding of the poor programme while businessman Lynden Armogan donated US $500 to sponsor the club’s 2009 ‘Tribute to Heroes Programme’ to be held on November 4.

Among others who made financial contributions were Guyanese body-builder Hugh Ross, Little Guyana Bake Shop, Indra Jainarine of Tota West Indian Bakery and Restaurant, Martin Cort, Brian Carpen of Carpen Plumbing Est., Leon Wiggins Jr., Roy Hughes and Armand Ramdial.

The funds would be used for the club’s annual charity campaign and also for its pro-education programmes. The club with sponsorship from Mr. Bobby Vieira of Caribbean Air Cargo will today be hosting a ‘Tribute to Teachers Programme’.

The Programme which would be organised by the club’s Farfan and Mendes Under-15 and Pepsi Under-19 teams would be co-sponsored by Tota’s Bakery and Carpen Plumbing. A total of ten outstanding head teachers will be honoured by the two cricket teams.

The club has also secured a uniform sponsorship from Rana Hussain of Millat Sporting Corp of Brooklyn for its first division team. The team would receive 20 pairs of coloured uniforms worth US $800 for the 2010 season.

On the other hand, discussions were also held with several potential sponsors for the new year for new programmes directed towards sports development among youths in school.

The RHTYSC would like to express profound gratitude to all the overseas based Guyanese in the New York area for their support and look forward  for their co-operation in the future.

Foster noted that the RHTYSC is well respected among the Guyanese community in New York as the club receives widespread media coverage overseas via weekly newspaper and the internet.

Meanwhile,  Vieira would be inducted as an Honorary Co-Patron of the club. Vieira, who is also General Manager of Caribbean Cargo and a popular television and radio host in New York, would join Ms. June Mendes as Co-Patron of the club.
