Police in a press release yesterday said that they are investigating the armed robbery which occurred at about 22:45 hours during which Shafeek Mohamed of Section ‘C’ Enterprise, East Coast Demerara and Surinamese national Jonathu Shaneen, were attacked and robbed by three armed men. Stabroek News was told that two of them had cutlasses while the third was armed with a handgun.

Investigations, the release stated, revealed that Mohamed and Shaneen were in the yard having some drinks when the armed men jumped over a northern fence and held them up at gunpoint. They took away $75 US currency, $25,000 Guyana currency, one Guyana Passport, one Suriname Passport, and other documents, which were in the house before escaping.

During the robbery Mohamed was dealt several lashes to his face with a cutlass. He was treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and sent away.
