Ridim Squad faces expulsion from Kashif and Shanghai tourney

According to a source close to the Kashif and Shanghai organization, the necessary documentation informing the club of the GFF’s decision is already in place.

The source informed Stabroek Sport that GFF president Colin Klass is expected to meet with an official of Riddim Squad today. The GFF is expected to institute the ban on Riddim Sqaud after its former president Eton Cordis slapped a lawsuit in excess of one million dollars on the GFF, Fruta Conquerors and the National Milling Company (NAMILCO).

The GFF had earlier threatened Riddim Squad with suspension in the event that Cordis moved to the courts seeking compensation from the GFF which he has since done.

Article 46 of the Federation’s Constitution states: “Affiliates, clubs, or club members shall not be permitted to refer disputes with the federation, members and club members to a court of law and they shall agree to submit each of such dispute to an arbitration tribunal appointed.”

It added:“All members agree that where the rules of the federation are exhausted and dissatisfaction still obtains, the matter in dispute shall within 30 days be referred to the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), CONCACAF or FIFA and there shall be no appeal against the decision of the arbitration.”

But Cordis, at a recent press conference at the Waterchris Hotel, announced that he had resigned as president of Riddim Squad and had severed all ties with the club.

He had told the press conference that he did not want to be affiliated with football administration in Guyana.

Since then Cordis has slapped the GFF, Fruta Conquerors Football Club and NAMILCO with a lawsuit in excess of $1,000, 000.

The writ issued by Cordis’ lawyer, was addressed to GFF’s general secretary Noel Adonis,  Fruta Conquerors’ secretary, Lavern Fraser-Thomas, and  the secretary of NAMILCO, informing that Cordis was suing for damages and loss suffered by negligence of the said parties.

Cordis was stabbed at the Tucville Playfield on October 23 during a football match between Riddim Squad and Pele in a tournament run off by Fruta Conquerors.
