Dissatisfied with sports presentations on NCN

I am shocked at the clumsiness of the presenters of sports news on NCN radio and television. I shall not comment on the lack of reading skills, the puerile writing, etc, since this would provide a surfeit of materials for a dissertation. What is unforgivable, is being out of touch with sports happenings in the world.

Majors in tennis and golf go unnoticed, and so too do major boxing matches. Cycling events, European football, and even NBA events seem non-existent. Presenters seem out of sorts when reading even a smattering of these items; they have no interest, and maybe this is what explains their pronunciation of names and events. I humbly suggest that NCN seek the services of sports specialists, even if it means utilizing expertise from other media houses.

The second concern of a lot of people is the total absence of inspiration from the presenters. It seems as though cheap, call-in-to-send-greetings is the way to go. Some lack the ability to speak at a professional level and the programmes are devoid of substance. Christmas has come and gone, and during the entire season nothing profound emanated from NCN: no history, discussions or readings on the great event. Nothing of the legends that evolved and spread throughout the world over the centuries, and nothing regarding the great debates and controversies that still evoke interest.

Another complaint relates to ‘Sunshine Corner,’ which is a great programme, but the use of Wikipedia as an authority is shocking. Educators always warn students not to utilize this internet encyclopaedia. Yet the programme keeps foisting it on young, unsuspecting minds. I hope they reconsider this and get help to source genuine academic leads.

Yours faithfully,
