Sophia woman denies stealing over $500,000 from travel service

It is alleged that on June 25, Denise Hilliman of 419 ‘A’ Field, Block X, Sophia, stole $560,000 from Muneshwer’s Travel Service. Hilliman pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Prosecutor, Inspector Stephen Telford asked that bail be refused on the grounds that Hilliman has another matter pending in court and if granted bail may flee the jurisdiction.

Hilliman’s lawyer, attorney-at-law Patrice Henry in his bail application said that his client operates a grocery shop and was told she was being charged for the offence after a raid was carried out in the area and she was held. Henry also said that his client was not involved in any other matter.

He said his client who was on an identification parade following the Gizmos and Gadgets robbery was not identified as the person involved.

Hilliman was subsequently placed on bail on condition that she reports to the Brickdam Police Station every Friday at 3 pm. She returns to court on January 5.
