Kenneth De Abreu League…De Abreu pledges continued sponsorship

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the tournament De Abreu indicated that the tournament was the first that he had ever sponsored.

He noted that during the tournament players lost or won points in anger and urged the players to resist the temptation.

Secretary of Malteenoes Sports Club, Terry Pemberton, said that it was good to see the sport return to the “home of table tennis,” adding that she was happy with that fact and wanted it to continue that way.

The former Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) executive, declared that she was very impressed with the level of play which she attributed to the consistency of League matches which were held on Saturdays.

General Secretary of the GTTA Godfrey Munroe, in his address told the victorious players that they had more reasons than one to celebrate their triumphs.

Munroe too said he was delighted with the organization of the league and thanked DeAbreu for coming on board and the Malteenoes Sport Club members for their support.

Forehand Connection won the premier Division ‘A’ title after they defeated Smiley Faces 3-0 in the final match.

Spartans, Unstoppable, Smiley Faces, Nigel’s Supermarket and Halex finished in that order.

The Most Improved Players Awards went to Jamaal Duff and Natalie Cummings in the male and female categories respectively.
