RHTYSC aids Essequibo umpires’ association

The donation, worth $70,000, was made by the club’s Pepsi under-19 team as its first personal development project for the new year.

Public Relations Officer and Assistant Manager of the Pepsi team, Moonish Singh, in handing over the donation to Zaheer Zakier, President of the ECUA at the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) office, stated that the RHTY&SC was committed towards the development of cricket throughout Guyana and called on the umpires to always strive for excellence.

He disclosed that the Pepsi under-19 team was mandated by the club to assist after the ECUA president requested  assistance from the club’s secretary Hilbert Foster, who readily agreed.

Zakier, accepting the donation, stated that the association was now being restructured and the donation would be used for classes for the umpires while the Polo tee shirts would be used during matches.

He expressed gratitude to the club of the year and the Pepsi under-19 team for the quick response to his request stating that it was less than one week after he sought  assistance.

The club will be making a similar donation to the Berbice Cricket Umpires Association later this month.
