The Group of Rio has joined the call of the international community to contribute to the search and rescue efforts as well as to provide the emergency assistance that is vital for the Haitian people in the wake of the devastating earthquake last Tuesday.

The Group of Rio in a news release said that it conveyed its sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the natural disaster, and to the government and people of Haiti and to the United Nations, whose  civilian and military personnel of MINUSTAH is providing support to the Caribbean country.
