Five men, two women granted bail over stripping of building

Five men and two women who were recently arrested  by police at Linden after they reportedly were  illegally removing a quantity of materials from a building at Dalawalla, Wismar, Linden appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan yesterday at the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court.

Sherwin Bristol, 32, Toby Stanford, 29, Elaine Jacobs, 45, and Wendell Flemming, 20, all of Dalawalla, Wismar, Howard Russell, 26, of Lot 7 Silvertown, Wismar, Ulric De Silva, 26, of 16 Gardina Street,  Wismar and Angela Albert, 26, of Lot 7 Burnham Drive, Wismar all pleaded not guilty to the charge of larceny of things affixed to a building.

It is alleged that between December 29,  2009 and January 12, 2010 at Dalawalla, Wismar, Linden the group stole a quantity of boards, zinc sheets, louvre  frames, louvre glass, bathroom, toilet and electrical fixtures at a total value of $831,250 from a building belonging to BK International.

After the charge was read and they all pleaded not guilty, Police Prosecution Whitter raised no objection to bail and they were each placed on $100,000 bail.

They are to return to court on February 24.
