Why is nothing done when complaints are made about noise nuisance

It is Saturday night and I am sitting in my living room surrounded by the hysterical booming of the “magnificent” sounds of one of DJ Stress’s many exasperating events at the Princess Hotel. I must say how pleasurable this is to my family and myself, especially since we decided to stay home to enjoy the serenity that a residential area is supposed to offer. But in this wonderful country where morality, standards and codes are non-existent, it is futile to even attempt to rectify the situation, since our vibrant law officers do exactly what they do best when a complaint is made – absolutely nothing – not to mention the additional frustration which is caused by the well-trained, extremely mannerly officer at the other end of the phone line.

This nonsense continues most weekends and frequently during the week as well, and it affects my studies. Since the country is already affected by a brain-drain situation one can only wonder why nothing is being done to enhance the studying environment of the few that remain. No wonder the quality of experts in this country is questionable.

One must only wonder if DJ Stress and his brilliant fans are totally deaf, since it is evident that they cannot play their music within the confines of their environment without disturbing the sane population which chooses not to be included in such lawlessness. Many letters have been written before mine pertaining to the DJ and his ‘talent,’ so why is nothing done when complaints are made to the law-enforcers and via the media?

I guess I shouldn’t be naïve and expect any results; after all, I am living in Guyana.

Yours faithfully,
