Haslington man shot, injured

A 28-year-old Haslington, East Coast Demerara resident was last night rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was shot in his home village under unclear circumstances.

Quacy John was up to late last night undergoing treatment at the institution but was said to be conscious and in a stable condition.

Hospitals officials said the man, who was rushed there just after 9 last night, sustained injuries to the back of his head.

When approached, the man’s relatives refused to speak to this newspaper. A woman, who identified herself as his mother, said she was not around at the time of the shooting. “I was not around at the time of the shooting. I was in town. You have to go and ask Quacy, he know everything. He was running and ducking,” the woman said.

From the woman’s utterances it appeared that the man had been shot before as she was heard asking relatives, “Why they always shooting him? Somebody has to know.”

From all indications the man was shot with a shotgun as relatives were saying that his injuries appeared to be caused by pellets.
