Dear Editor,
Please allow me the opportunity to offer congratulations to the West Demerara U-17 football squad, on their stellar performance to become champions of the recently concluded inter-association U-17 football tournament.
To my knowledge, it is the first time that a West Demerara junior team has defeated the mighty and formidable Georgetown team. The previous best performance was 2nd place in 2005.
Congrats to the coach, manager, parents and supporters whose effort and sacrifices have contributed significantly to this historic occasion.
The players who did not make the team must also share in this moment of glory since it was by competing with/or against them that the squad was given the winning edge.
I am very proud and honoured to have witnessed this feat. Once again, congrats to all involved.
