Japan donates US$2.7M for crime prevention

(Jamaica Observer) – The Japanese government on Thursday handed over a grant of US$2.65 million to the Jamaica Social Investment Fund to bolster the Jamaica Community Crime and Violence Prevention Programme.

Dubbed the JAVA fund, the grant will be used as an instrument to finance crime and violence prevention activities in high-risk areas along the Kingston to May Pen metropolitan corridor in the south-eastern region of the island.

It will also be used to transfer JSDF grant proceeds to competitively selected sub-projects.
