Khan, Raymond Singh lead Topco Juice chess tourney

Taffin Khan played undefeated in his first three games of the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) Topco Juice Chess tournament to acquire the lead in the event which commenced over the weekend.

Former national chess champion Raymond Singh ponders his next move.

Khan and Raymond Singh, former national champion who is visiting from Canada, are tied on three points apiece but Khan is ahead on the tiebreaker system.

Khan got past Learie Webster, Errol Tiwari and Michael Pereira in those three rounds while Singh got the better of Ryan Singh, Michael Pereira and David Khan.

David Khan, Errol Tiwari, Shiv Nandalall and Learie Webster all on three on two points apiece and Michael Pereira, Ryan Singh and Alex Joseph all have one point each after on the points table after the first three rounds.

Saeed Ali has assumed the lead in the junior category after the completion of five rounds. Ali is on five points and is followed by Sham Khan – four points and Khalid Gajraj on three and a half points.

Also in the race is Kana Khan on three points, National Junior Champion Cecil Cox on two points and Rashad Hussain and Devendra Singh on one point apiece.
