In the opening match against East Bank’s `Top Up’s’ Georgetown’s `Flex Text’  batting first, amassed 180-7 off their allotted 20 overs with Christopher Barnwell slamming a half century.

All rounder Barnwell showed no adverse effects from competing in the Celebrities basketball match Saturday night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall by slamming 56 which was decorated with six fours and one six before he retired out.

Ravi Sarwan was unbeaten on 45 while former West Indies Under-19 captain Leon Johnson and Shemroy Barrington added 19 and 14 runs respectively.

Rakesh Gangaram and Rohan Sarjoo bagged two wickets each for 19 and 36 runs respectively.

In reply, East Bank’s `Top Up’s’ reached 114-7 at the end of their allotted overs with Mark Robe’s 28 the top score.

The East Bank players resurrected themselves for their match against East Coast only to once again be crushed as East Coast’s 167-5 proved too challenging for them.

East Coast’s Christopher Pattandin top scored with 52 while Vishnu Ramjit, Wazim Haslim and Krishna Arjune supported with scores of 39, 34 and 25 respectively.

Ronald Jaisingh captured three wickets for East Bank who in reply were dismissed for 92 with Robe top scoring with 34.

Videsh Lall, 3-11, Zaheer Mohammed, 3-21 and Clive Andries, 2-8 were the main wicket takers.

The competition continues today at the Area H ground Port Mourant, Berbice with Upper Corentyne `Free Week-end’ coming up against New Amsterdam `Free Credit.’
