Chopped Ithaca woman hospitalised

An Ithaca, West Coast Berbice woman who was reportedly beaten and chopped by a relative is currently a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Debbie Benjamin, of Lot 120 Ithaca, was taken to the medical institution around 4 pm yesterday.

The woman suffered wounds from being beaten about the body and chopped. Benjamin, according to hospital sources, has been admitted to the Female Open Ward and is in a stable condition.

Several efforts made to contact Benjamin’s relatives via telephone last evening were futile.

This newspaper understands that the woman’s wounds were inflicted by a 23-year-old relative and that it was this person who took her the hospital yesterday afternoon.
