England’s Rafiq banned for one month for Twitter tirade

LONDON, (Reuters) – England under-19 captain Azeem  Rafiq has been banned from all cricket for one month for  criticising team manager John Abrahams, the England and Wales  Cricket Board said in a statement yesterday. Off spinner Rafiq, who plays for Yorkshire, admitted making  a personal attack on Abrahams in a public statement and bringing  the game into disrepute.

Media reports said Rafiq made his outburst on his Twitter  feed.

“The panel considered this to be a serious breach of the  regulations particularly given Rafiq’s position as captain of  the England Under-19 side,” the ECB said.

Rafiq was also fined 500 pounds ($798.1)
