The Patriots edged the Pacesetters in their Division Three game to decide the series’ third place team, by a mere two points in the dying moments of the game to capture a 39-37-point victory.

Though getting off to a slow start, the fairly low scoring game was closely contested and the Melanie Patriots got the upper hand on their opponents from the inception. The first quarter ended with the Patriots 7-6 ahead on the scoreboard. The lead shifted in the second quarter in Pacesetters’ favour, but the Melanie Patriots held their opponents close after the Pacesetters seized a 15-13 advantage at halftime.

Melanie Patriots were within striking distance and were within one basket of recapturing the lead. However the Pacesetters held on and added to their marginal lead throughout the third period which ended 30-24 in favour of the Pacesetters. Even though the Pacesetters controlled the lead for the two quarters prior to the final period, they were outscored by the Melanie Patriots in the final quarter and surrendered the lead in the final minutes, resulting in the two-point defeat at the hands of the Patriots.

The senior Pacesetters side will now meet the Ravens in the Best-of-Three final, which is scheduled to begin on Thursday night at the Burnham Court, while the Division Three final between Ravens and Scorpions is slated to begin on Wednesday night.
