Gambhir and Sharma to miss second test through injury

MOHALI, India, (Reuters) – Opener Gautam Gambhir and  paceman Ishant Sharma will miss the second test against  Australia because of knee injuries, Board of Control for Cricket  in India (BCCI) secretary N. Srinivasan said yesterday.

In a statement Srinivasan said the pair would be replaced by  left-handed opener Abhinav Mukund and pace bowler Jaydev  Unadkat.

Sharma played a key role in India’s thrilling one-wicket  victory in the first test yesterday, sharing a vital 81-run  ninth wicket partnership with Vangipurappu Laxman.
The second and final test begins in Bangalore on Saturday.
