The Ministry of Health must put pressure on the nurses

Dear Editor,
I think that the Ministry of Health must put strong pressure on the nurses working in the delivery room. It is very disturbing to know what is happening at the hospitals.

Editor, what purposes do some of these nurses serve? At the end of the month they are paid, but paid for doing what? If the nurses at the Skeldon hospital could not have managed the cases of those two pregnant women, all they had to do was summon the doctor; it is as simple as that. There is no way they should not have given help, or told the woman to “go and sleep.” I think it was last year a pregnant women died at the West Demerara Regional hospital under similar circumstances.

All that we are hearing is that an investigation will be carried out, and there the matter ends. These types of nurses should be fired. But this government does nothing and will keep them on the job.
Yours faithfully,
Ramroop
