Cummings Lodge woman denies ganja charge

A young woman accused of having a quantity of cannabis in her possession was yesterday placed on $5000 bail after appearing before Acting Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that on November 19 in Georgetown, Kenesha Walcott had in her possession two grammes of cannabis. The 20-year-old of Lot 1262 E Field, Cummings Lodge pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of narcotics when it was read to her by the acting chief magistrate.

Prosecutor Stephen Telford had no objection to the young woman being admitted to bail. Walcott was later placed on $5000 bail. Her matter was transferred to Court Five for November 26.
