T&T ‘A’ team upstages ‘Big Boys’

Scores: T&T Seniors 109/8 versus T&T ‘A’ team 110/8.

Rayad Emrit

The ‘A’ team with great bowling from skipper Rayad Emrit (3/25) and off-spinner Amit Jaggernauth (3/19) restricted the T&T Senior team to 109 for eight off their allotted 20 overs. Emrit then underlined his status as an all rounder by scoring 28 and aided Dr. Tishan Maraj 35, in bringing an unlikely victory to the men who failed to make the Senior Team.

After being inserted by the T&T ‘A’ team the T&T Senior team found themselves in early trouble as the pace of Shannon Gabriel unsettled them. He removed the danger man Darren Bravo for two and at 50 for five early on, a recovery was always going to be difficult. Jason Mohammed who would remain unbeaten on 31 and Denesh Ramdin 15 added 29 runs for the sixth wicket but a score of 109 for eight in 20 overs was always going to be inadequate. Emrit was in fine form with the ball again and finished with 3/25 to claim six wickets in the tournament to date and Jaggernauth took 3/19.

Amit Jaggernauth

All rounder Kervon Cooper removed Dwayne Bravo for two early in the chase but Maraj and Emrit added 40 runs for the fifth wicket that ensured their team the three points. The ‘A’ team now leads the standings with six points and a win or a no result against the cellar placed T&T Academy will give them the title and $20,000.
