La Penitence man charged over forged driver’s licence

A man was placed on $50,000 bail on Friday, on charges of conspiracy and uttering a forged document.

Damion Allicock, 21, of 21 Independence Boulevard, La Penitence, appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charges after they were read to him.

Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said that the accused was seen acting suspiciously as he stood beside a motorcycle.

Police approached him and enquired if he was the owner of the vehicle and asked him to produce his licence. The prosecutor said that after the licence was examined, the police determined that “it was purchased.” Telford stated that investigations were carried out and Allicock was charged.

The magistrate placed Allicock on bail and transferred the case to court 2 for January 14.
