NIS opens Lethem office

The National Insurance Scheme (NIS) has established a permanent presence in Lethem, Region 9, with the commissioning of an office there on Monday, increasing the number of its local offices countrywide to 14.

The new office is located in the regional administration complex, Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon told the media at his weekly post-Cabinet news briefing on Thursday.

“The plan is that it would initially offer services to pensioners and contributors, particularly with regards to obligations of the scheme to members of the working, subscribing public,” he said.

The opening of an office at Region 9, he said, was a direct response to the growing economic activity at the border location.
