Seon Bristol mega card billed for April 23 at Princess Hotel

It is not every day Guyanese get to see several of their sporting heroes in one place but this soon will change when former boxer turned promoter Seon Bristol pulls off his mega card on April 23 at the Princess Hotel.

Bristol, who first carried boxing to a hotel last June with his ‘Deadly Encounters’ card, visited Stabroek Sport yesterday and said that while the roster is not yet completed, Guyana’s first world champion Andrew ‘Sixhead’ Lewis, ‘Vicious’ Vivian Harris and Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA), Bantamweight champion Shondell ‘Mystery Lady’ Alfred will all be appearing on the card.

Bristol, who is home to attend the funeral of his relative, Euniss Caesar of Half Mile Wismar, stated that Harris is expected to fight Gary St. Clair while Alfred’s opponent will be a top contender in her division.

He also disclosed  that Puerto Rico’s Hector Camacho Jr. will challenge Lewis or Raul Frank. Camacho, who scored a unanimous decision victory over ‘Deadly’ Denny Dalton last year at the Princess Hotel, according to Bristol has signaled his intention to fight Lewis or Frank since they too have wins over Dalton. In the meantime, it is not yet certain whether Wayne ‘Big Truck’ Braithwaite will be on the card since he is still under contract with legendary promoter Don King.

And it is not yet known which fighters will appear in the feature bout of the night. However, Bristol highlighted that this card will be an even bigger one this time, since the support of the patrons at last year’s event has spurred him to bring a card that is “bigger and better”.

“This is a card for every man, woman and child to witness. The objective is to provide crowd pleasing, exciting matchups for the people,”  said Bristol, who resides in New York. According to Bristol boxing must be supported once it is done with good intent and he will be one of the catalysts of this process. Therefore, he believes that Guyana’s boxing history needs to emphasised by reminding everyone what the sport has done for the country’s recognition.
