Edghill back to winning ways

Following her shock defeat in the final of the girls’ 18 years and  under category talented Chelsea Edghill  was back to  her winning ways last evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall when the national Sports Commission annual Mashramani competition resumed with play in the junior doubles category. Edghill teamed up with her fellow Malteenoes Sports Club player Stefan Corlette to defeat the pair of Nigel Bryan and Priscilla Greaves 3-2 in the final of the Under-19 mixed doubles event.

Bryan/Greaves had earlier defeated Denzil Hopkinson and Akecia Nedd 11-9, 9-11, 4-11, 13-11, 11-8 in their semi-final encounter while Edghill/Corlette defeated Elishaba Johnson and Selena Jackman 11-4, 11-4, 12-10.

The Under-18 boys’ doubles title went to Nigel Bryan and Denzel Duff who defeated Denzil Hopkinson and Brandon Baldie 11-13, 11-4, 11-8, 11-7. In the semi-finals Bryan/Duff defeated Sunil Logan and Samuel Fraser 3-2 while Hopkinson and Baldie defeated Jamaal Duff and Joseph Johnson 3-0.
