Emanie successfully defends title

Leading netball club Emanie made good on its promise to successfully defend its title when the Guyana Netball Association (GNA) staged its National Under 23 Tournament last weekend at the National Gymnasium.

In the course of its title defence, Emanie managed to play unbeaten in the four-team competition.

And, in a repeat of last position standings, All Stars retained the runner up position. The Fearless Flyers ended in third, the Doves took the fourth position and Eagles ended in the cellar.

Playing the opening game of the tournament on Friday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Emanie defeated their arch rivals, the All Stars team 18 – 10.

Emanie grabbed two more wins on Saturday against Eagles and Doves.
Eagles found it particularly difficult to get one pass Emanie remaining goalless all throughout the match that ended 23 – 0 while the Doves found it just as difficult against Emanie putting together a mere six points  as against the 26 amassed by Emanie.
Sunday saw Emanie defeating Fearless Flyers in their final match.

Following their opening defeat to Emanie, the All Stars team sustained another loss in their second game against the Doves going under 37 – 41. Things picked up for the All Stars team thereafter with consecutive wins against the Fearless Flyers, and the Eagles.
